Hey HEAT Members, if you know anyone who is thinking about getting into running but doesn't know where to begin, tell them about the newly formed Beginner Half Marathon Training Group that the Hendersonville Running Club is starting.
It's a 16 week run/walk program designed for the beginner. Our first group training run was Saturday, January 2 and we had 32 folks show up in 16 degree weather to run, many for their first time. Half of those didn't even sign up in advance. Our roster is now up to 57 beginners!
Obviously there's a real interest/need for this kind of program in our community. With the help of our HRC fearless leader, HEAT member, and RRCA Certified Running Coach Leslie Valdez and myself plus many other experienced volunteers, we just may turn a few folks into runners. Our goal in 16 weeks is to get our beginners across the finish line of the CMM Half feeling good and injury free.
Interested folks can email me directly for more details at spinjunkie@comcast.net.
